The IGNOU iGRAM portal lets registered students submit a query or complaint and check the response online. If your assignment marks are missing, an exam payment is unclear or a student record needs attention, start at the official iGRAM website. Keep the relevant receipt, course details and a short explanation ready before filling the form.
A complaint gives you a record to follow up. It does not replace an exam form, assignment submission or re-evaluation application, and it cannot guarantee a refund or correction. You still need to complete the required university process within its deadline.
IGNOU iGRAM Portal at a Glance
| Item | What students need to know |
|---|---|
| Official website | https://igram.ignou.ac.in/ |
| Purpose | Submit a query or grievance and track the response |
| Eligibility | The homepage says grievances are for registered IGNOU students |

| Information to prepare | Student details, relevant course or session, dates and supporting evidence |
| Tracking option | Track Grievance Response Status |
| Outcome | Depends on the issue, university records and applicable rules |
If your admission is still awaiting confirmation, check your application dashboard first. The iGRAM homepage lists ssc@ignou.ac.in for eligibility enquiries. Having paid an admission fee does not, by itself, confirm that your enrolment is approved. Our IGNOU registration details guide explains how to check your record.
When Should You Use iGRAM?
Use it when you need an answer about a student-service issue or want to report a problem that remains unresolved. You do not need to turn every small question into a complaint. For a deadline or fee amount, checking the latest notice may answer your question immediately.
For an unresolved issue, identify the course or transaction and explain what you have already checked. If assignment marks remain missing after you contacted your centre, mention that contact and keep the submission receipt ready.
A formal application is different. Applying for re-evaluation, submitting an exam form or re-registering requires the relevant official process. Selecting a matching grievance category does not complete that application.
Also check the dates on alerts shown on the portal. An old notice may remain visible after its admission or examination cycle has ended.
What to Prepare Before Submitting a Complaint
Gather the details that explain your issue. You do not need to attach every document from your admission folder.
- Student details: Your name, enrolment number and programme code, copied from your records.
- Course and session: The exact course code and the admission, assignment or examination session concerned.
- A short timeline: When you submitted, paid, checked the status or contacted an office.
- Previous correspondence: Relevant emails, acknowledgements or instructions you received.
- Evidence: The receipt or screenshot that shows the problem.
- Your request: What you want the office to check or clarify.
For a payment issue, retain the transaction date, amount and reference number. For missing assignment marks, keep the submission acknowledgement and a dated screenshot of the relevant status page.
Check that screenshots are readable. A cropped image showing only an error may leave out the course, session or page needed to understand it. Keep the relevant context while hiding unrelated personal information.
If you do not have a receipt, say so and ask the receiving office to check its records. Do not claim evidence you cannot provide.
Never include passwords, OTPs, CVV numbers or full card details. Provide identity documents only when the official process requires them. Keep private documents off public forums and social-media comments.
How to Submit a Complaint on the IGNOU iGRAM Portal
Open the official website
Go to https://igram.ignou.ac.in/. Check the address before entering student information. The Login link on the homepage opens an administrative login screen; it is not the starting point for submitting a student grievance.
Choose New Query / Grievance
Select this option to begin. Choose the Grievance Category that best matches your problem. For missing assignment marks, for example, select Assignments rather than a broader category that does not describe the issue.
Select the subject and continue
The starting screen contains a Subject dropdown. Choose the closest available option, then use Next. The subject choices depend on the category, so allow the page to update after making your selection.
Complete the remaining details
In the assignment form checked for this guide, the next screen asks for your Regional Centre, enrolment number, name, programme, email, mobile number and query. Enter details from your records, then describe the problem and what you need checked.
Use the complaint examples below to prepare your wording. They are examples for your description, not a replacement for the portal’s category and subject selections.
Add relevant evidence and review
The assignment screen also shows a document-upload field. Its visible instructions list JPG, DOC, XLS and PDF, with a maximum size of 5 MB. Keep your file below that size and follow the live instructions if they change. Check that the document opens and proves the point you are making.
Review your student details, description and attachment before selecting Submit. Confirm the submission if the portal asks you to do so.
Save the acknowledgement
After submission, save any confirmation and tracking details provided. Keep a copy of your complaint and the submission date. Check your registered email, including spam, for any related message.
If the page displays an error, do not assume the complaint was recorded. Check for an acknowledgement or existing record before attempting another submission.
How to Track Your Complaint
Open iGRAM and choose Track Grievance Response Status. Enter your GS Token number and select Get Status. Check that you copied the token correctly.
Save the response and its date. A message saying that your issue was forwarded does not necessarily mean that the underlying record has already changed. Check the relevant assignment-status page, Grade Card or application dashboard separately.
If the response requests more information, follow the stated instructions and keep your original reference number in the follow-up. If it appears unrelated to your problem, explain which course or transaction still needs attention.
What if you have lost your tracking number?
Choose Know your GST Number on the homepage and enter your enrolment number as requested. The field checked for this guide accepts up to ten characters. If your full number does not fit, do not shorten it; contact the Student Service Centre. Keep your submission date and any acknowledgement ready if the lookup fails.
You can find links to official marks and registration pages through our IGNOU student resources hub.
Complaint Examples You Can Adapt
These are fictional examples. Replace the bracketed details and remove anything that does not apply. Mention an earlier contact only if you actually made it.
Example 1: Assignment marks not updated
Suggested wording:
I am enrolled in [programme code], enrolment number [number]. I submitted the [course code] assignment for [session] at [Study Centre] on [date]. The submission acknowledgement is available, but the marks are not showing on [status page/Grade Card] as checked on [date].
I contacted [office] on [date] and received [brief reply/no reply]. Please check whether this assignment was evaluated and its marks transmitted. If any information is missing from my record, please tell me what I need to provide.
Evidence: Submission acknowledgement, relevant correspondence and a dated screenshot of the missing entry.
Before raising the issue, check both the status page and Grade Card. Our assignment status not updated guide explains the checks to make first.
Example 2: Exam payment deducted but form status unclear
Suggested wording:
I submitted the exam form for [session], programme [code], enrolment number [number], on [date]. I paid ₹[amount] using [method], transaction reference [reference]. The bank shows the debit, but the exam portal displays [exact status/message] as checked on [date].
Please confirm whether the payment was received and whether my examination form is recorded. Please advise what action is required within the current application deadline.
Evidence: Payment receipt or transaction confirmation, form acknowledgement if available and the current portal-status screenshot.
Before paying again, check the current exam portal’s failed-payment and retry instructions. A bank debit alone does not confirm that the form was accepted. Follow the official instructions promptly if the deadline is close; a pending grievance does not extend it.
A failed or duplicate transaction is a different issue from simply missing an examination after paying. Explain the transaction problem clearly rather than assuming every exam fee is refundable. See our Samarth exam form and payment-status guide for related checks.
Example 3: Re-registration status not updated
Suggested wording:
My enrolment number is [number] for [programme code]. I submitted re-registration for [session] on [date] and paid ₹[amount], reference [number]. My dashboard currently shows [exact status].
Please check whether my re-registration is recorded and whether any action is pending from my side. I have kept the form acknowledgement and payment receipt ready.
Evidence: Re-registration acknowledgement, payment receipt and a dated screenshot of the dashboard.
If you are asking about a fresh admission that has not been confirmed, use the admission portal’s support instructions and check iGRAM eligibility first. The re-registration guide covers that separate process.
Which IGNOU Office Should You Contact?
The right contact depends on the issue. IGNOU’s July 2026 Common Prospectus includes a grievance-contact section, and its official website lists student enquiry numbers. Use those sources rather than an old screenshot forwarded in a group.
| Problem | Contact or check |
|---|---|
| Missing assignment marks | Verify submission with your Study Centre; contact the relevant assignment section in SED for marks-record issues |
| Grade Card or result discrepancy | Relevant result section in the Student Evaluation Division |
| Exam form or payment status | Current exam portal’s instructions and examination contact |
| ID card, fee receipt, name or address correction | Concerned Regional Centre |
| Printed study material not received | Check dispatch status; contact MPDD as listed in the prospectus |
| Admission or re-registration issue | Relevant application dashboard and Student Registration Division support |
| Unsure where to ask | Student Service Centre |
For general guidance, the Student Service Centre lists ssc@ignou.ac.in. The official contact page lists 011-29572513 and 011-29572514 for student enquiries. Check the current IGNOU contact page before calling or emailing.
For book delivery, check our study-material and dispatch-status guide.
What If You Do Not Receive a Reply?
First check the tracking screen and your registered email. If a response is available, read it fully before sending another message. It may ask for a document or direct you to the office handling your record.
Do not rely on a guaranteed seven-day or fifteen-day reply unless a current official instruction states it. The public pages checked for this guide did not provide one universal iGRAM response deadline.
For a follow-up, quote your token, submission date and the original issue. Add any new evidence, explain what remains unresolved and ask for the next action. You do not need to repeat the entire history in every message.
Avoid duplicate submissions just to attract attention. Follow up using the existing reference where possible. Submit again if IGNOU instructs you to do so, the earlier submission failed or the new issue needs a separate record.
If a deadline is approaching, contact the relevant official office promptly and follow the current application or payment instructions. Keep proof of your attempts. Waiting for an iGRAM response does not pause a university deadline.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Writing only “please solve my problem” without identifying the course or transaction.
- Entering the wrong enrolment number, programme code or session.
- Attaching an unreadable receipt or an unrelated screenshot.
- Claiming a submission or payment was successful without checking its status.
- Sharing passwords, OTPs or unnecessary identity documents.
- Mixing unrelated problems into one complaint.
- Assuming a grievance completes another university application.
- Following an expired notice because it is still displayed online.
Our Practical Advice
At OpenStudyInfo, our recommendation is to make the complaint easy to check. Put the main issue first, add the dates and relevant identifiers, then say what you need the office to confirm.
You do not need formal English or a long introduction. “I submitted this course assignment on this date, and its marks are still missing” is a useful starting point. Add the receipt and previous reply where relevant. Explain the problem calmly without leaving out anything that affects your request.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the IGNOU iGRAM portal?
It is IGNOU’s online system for student queries and grievances. Students can submit an issue and check the response through the portal.
Who can submit a complaint?
The homepage says registered IGNOU students can submit grievances. If your admission is not confirmed, check the admission support instructions and ask the Student Service Centre about eligibility.
How do I check IGNOU complaint status?
Choose Track Grievance Response Status, enter your GS Token number and select Get Status. Keep the response and submission details for follow-up.
Can I report missing assignment marks?
Yes. Choose the relevant assignment category, describe the missing course entry and keep submission proof ready. Check your status and Grade Card before reporting it.
Can iGRAM guarantee a refund or marks correction?
No. The university must check the records and applicable rules. Submitting a complaint does not guarantee a particular outcome.
What if the website does not open?
Check the address and try another browser or network. If the problem continues, contact official student support. Keep evidence of the error and check any approaching deadline separately.
Should I submit the same complaint again?
Use the existing reference for follow-up where possible. Submit again only when appropriate, such as a failed submission, a separate issue or instructions from IGNOU.
Before You Submit
Check your student details, confirm the issue and prepare a short dated explanation. Keep the relevant evidence and save the acknowledgement.
The IGNOU iGRAM portal provides a way to raise your issue and follow its response. Check your marks, payment or application record separately and complete other university processes on time.
