How the IGNOU Percentage Calculator Works

This calculator converts the assignment and Term-End Examination marks entered for each course into percentages. It then applies the evaluation weightage selected above.

Course score = (Assignment % × Assignment weight) + (TEE % × TEE weight)

For example, 80% in the assignment and 60% in the TEE under a 30:70 scheme gives: (80 × 0.30) + (60 × 0.70) = 66%.

Simple Average and Credit-Weighted Percentage

A simple average gives equal importance to every course. A credit-weighted percentage multiplies each course score by its credits, so courses carrying more credits influence the overall estimate more strongly.

Credit-weighted percentage = Σ (Course score × Credits) ÷ Σ Credits

The figures can differ when courses have unequal credits. Check your programme guide to confirm which method applies.
