Free Signature Resizer Online

Resize a signature image to the pixel dimensions and file-size limits shown on your admission, examination or scholarship form.

Upload a photo or scan, choose JPEG, PNG or WebP, preview the result and download it directly from your browser.

📢 Quick answerOpenStudyInfo’s free signature resizer lets you upload a signature photo or scan, set the exact pixel size, choose JPEG, PNG or WebP, control the file size where supported, and download the result. It works in your browser, so the image is processed on your device. Always match the final dimensions, format and KB limit shown on the form you are filling.

Resize your signature image

Choose a JPEG, PNG or WebP image up to 10 MB. Check the exact pixel, format and KB requirements shown on the form you are completing.

Use a clear photo or scan with good contrast between the signature and paper.
Lower values keep only darker pixels; higher values may include paper shadows.
JPEG always uses a white background.
Available for JPEG/WebP. A very small target may not be reachable.

The image is processed on this device. OpenStudyInfo does not receive or store your signature.

How to resize a signature online

  1. Sign clearly on plain paper using the ink colour allowed by the receiving portal.
  2. Take a sharp, evenly lit photo or use a clean scan.
  3. Check the official form for required dimensions, file type and maximum KB.
  4. Upload the image and select a preset or enter custom pixels.
  5. Keep automatic trimming on if the image has wide white margins. Adjust sensitivity when the preview cuts ink or keeps shadows.
  6. Choose the background, format and quality, then download and reopen the result before uploading it.
Preset warning: 140 × 60, 200 × 80 and 300 × 100 pixels are convenient options, not universal standards. Use Custom pixels whenever the official form specifies another size.

How automatic trimming works

The tool looks for pixels darker than the selected sensitivity level and uses them to estimate the signature area. It then adds your chosen inner padding and fits that area inside the output dimensions without stretching the handwriting.

A shadow, coloured paper, ruled line or stain can be detected as part of the signature. A faint pen stroke may be missed when sensitivity is too low. Increase or decrease the slider and rely on the preview rather than assuming automatic trimming is perfect.

Transparent output can be useful when PNG or WebP is accepted. JPEG does not support transparency, so this tool places JPEG signatures on white. A transparent background does not mean that every light pixel behind the signature has been removed; this is a margin-trimming utility, not a professional background-removal system.

Checks before uploading your signature

  • Make sure no stroke, dot or underline is cut off.
  • Confirm that the signature remains readable at its final displayed size.
  • Match the official width, height, format and KB limit.
  • Do not use another person’s signature or alter identity documents.
  • Keep your original file separately because resizing removes image detail.
  • Upload only through the official or otherwise trusted application portal.

Why an uploaded signature may be rejected

  • Wrong dimensions: use Custom pixels and enter the exact width and height from the form.
  • File too large: set a maximum KB for JPEG or WebP, or reduce the output quality slightly.
  • Unsupported format: download in the format accepted by the portal, usually JPEG or PNG.
  • Blurry or light ink: retake the photo in good light or sign again with a darker pen.
  • Cropped strokes: increase inner padding or adjust trim sensitivity and review the preview.
  • Wrong file: rename the final file clearly, such as signature-final.jpg, before uploading.

Remember: A resized image is accepted only when it meets the receiving portal’s own instructions. The tool cannot guarantee acceptance by every university or examination website.

Frequently asked questions

What signature size should I choose?

Use the exact width and height stated by the application portal. The available presets are examples and are not official for every form.

Will automatic trimming remove all white background?

No. It estimates the darker signature area and removes outer margins. It does not perform complete background removal, so check the preview for shadows or paper lines.

Can I make a transparent signature?

You can select a transparent canvas for PNG or WebP. JPEG always uses white, and light pixels inside the retained crop may still remain.

Can the tool make an exact 20 KB or 50 KB file?

For JPEG and WebP it can try to stay under a selected maximum. Exact size is not guaranteed because compression depends on the image and output dimensions.

Is my signature uploaded or saved?

No. Processing happens inside your browser and OpenStudyInfo does not upload or store the selected image. Avoid using a shared computer without deleting the downloaded file afterwards.

OpenStudyInfo is an independent educational information website. The authority receiving the form decides whether a signature file is acceptable.
