An IGNOU course not showing in exam form selection needs a record check before another payment or application attempt. Compare the exact course code with your registration record, confirm the examination session and read the eligibility instructions that apply to you. If an eligible registered course remains unavailable, save evidence and report it through the relevant official support channel.
The checklist below helps you separate a missing registration record from a missing exam-form option, prepare a clear complaint and avoid selecting the wrong paper.

Before changing anything, keep these five details together:
- Session: the TEE session displayed in the form, such as December 2026.
- Portal: the official link provided for your programme mode and learner category.
- Codes: your programme code and the exact missing course code.
- Registration: the record showing that course against your enrolment number.
- Error: the message displayed, or a screenshot showing the available course list.
IGNOU has separate services for admission, re-registration and examinations. Our Samarth exam-form guide explains the general application and acknowledgement checks. For eligibility and dates, the latest applicable official notice takes priority.
Is the Course Missing from Registration Too?
Start with your IGNOU registration details and any relevant confirmation or re-registration receipt. A payment receipt and a displayed course registration are different pieces of evidence; compare both if they disagree.
| What you see | What to check | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Course missing from registration and exam form | Your selected courses, confirmation and relevant receipt. | Ask whether the course registration was recorded. Attach the supporting documents. |
| Registered course missing only from exam form | TEE session, course validity, minimum study period and previous result. | Report both records together and ask for an eligibility check. |
| Registration shown as invalid | Enrolment details, programme, applicable validity and registration history. | Request clarification; the message alone does not explain the cause. |
| Wrong programme or session displayed | Your account and the examination option selected. | Recheck the selection. Report incorrect account details before proceeding. |
| Practical or project absent from theory list | The instructions for that component and its separate workflow, where applicable. | Check the relevant notice rather than selecting a similar theory code. |
Hypothetical example: Riya finds a course in her registration record but not in the December exam selection. She saves both screens and asks whether that registered course is eligible for this TEE. Its presence in registration is useful evidence, but does not by itself settle examination eligibility.
Seven Checks Before Raising a Complaint
- Read the applicable notice. Confirm the year, TEE session and learner category inside it. An old June-session page or overseas-student instruction may not apply to your December application.
- Match your account details. Compare the enrolment number and programme with your admission confirmation. Do not substitute an application control number for an enrolment number.
- Compare course codes character by character. A programme code identifies your qualification; a course code identifies a paper. Similar subject titles do not make two codes interchangeable.
- Check registration and study-period requirements. Read your programme’s applicable rules. Being enrolled in a programme does not mean every paper is due in the same examination session.
- Review assignment requirements. Follow the instructions for your course and TEE. Missing assignment marks on a status page do not, by themselves, prove why an exam-form option is missing.
- Compare previous results. Note whether the course is passed, uncleared or awaiting a result. Exam reappearance and next-semester re-registration are different processes; do not assume a failed paper automatically requires fresh re-registration.
- Try one browser check. Reopen the official page in another updated browser or device. If it works there, the original browser may be involved. If the course is absent in both, that still does not establish the cause.
For a passed course, check whether a specific official improvement provision applies before attempting another examination. For an uncleared or pending-result course, follow the current eligibility instructions rather than copying another student’s choice.
Hypothetical example: Arjun searches for “ABC-050”, while his registration record says “ABC-005”. These are illustrative codes. He first corrects what he is searching for; he does not request a registration change merely because he misread the code.
What to Do If an Eligible Course Is Still Missing
- Save the registration evidence. Include your programme, course code and session, with the relevant confirmation or receipt if available.
- Capture the exam-form problem. Record the date, time and exact message. A screenshot of a missing option should also identify which session and account you checked.
- Describe the mismatch. Write one clear sentence: “Course [CODE] appears in my registration record but is absent from the [SESSION] examination selection.”
- Use the appropriate official contact. Check the current notice first. For registration-record questions, consult the Student Registration Division or your Regional Centre. If the notice names a separate support channel for your category, follow it.
- Keep the correspondence. Save the sent email, attachments and any acknowledgement or grievance number. A phone discussion is easier to follow up when you record when it happened.
- Follow up with the same details. Refer to the earlier message and explain anything that has changed. For an unresolved complaint, our IGNOU iGRAM guide explains the grievance route.
IGNOU’s Student Registration Division page lists its Centralised Student Registration Cell contact. Use that official page to confirm contact details rather than an old forwarded screenshot.
Our practical advice: Put your registration evidence and error screenshot in one clearly named folder before writing. This makes it easier to send a complete first message and avoid contradictory follow-ups.
Email Template for a Missing IGNOU Course
Replace the brackets with your own details. Describe the course as registered only if your record supports that statement. Otherwise, explain that you selected or paid for it and need confirmation.

Mistakes to Avoid
- Selecting a substitute: a similar-looking paper is not a replacement for the missing course.
- Copying another student’s eligibility: programme, admission session and course history can differ.
- Paying again to refresh the list: another transaction is not a method for correcting course registration.
- Treating every payment as refundable: a duplicate debit and a successfully submitted form are different cases.
- Waiting without reporting: repeated refreshing gives the office no record of your problem.
- Mixing deadlines: theory examinations, assignments and project or practical processes can have different instructions.
If money has already been deducted, check the existing transaction and form acknowledgement before another attempt. Follow the payment guidance for that portal; do not use an old waiting period or refund promise from a different session.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my IGNOU course not showing in exam form?
Check the exact code, registration record, TEE session, validity and applicable eligibility requirements. These checks help narrow the issue; they do not prove its cause. If an eligible registered course remains absent, report both records to the relevant official office.
Can I add a missing course after submitting the form?
Do not assume that an addition or correction will be available. Follow the current instructions for your portal and session. If you already submitted the form, contact the appropriate office promptly with the acknowledgement and missing course details.
Does invalid registration mean my admission is cancelled?
That message alone is not enough to conclude that admission has been cancelled. Compare your account and registration details, then ask the relevant office to explain the status and any authorised next step.
Should I pay again if a subject is missing?
Do not make another payment simply to make a course appear. First clarify course eligibility and registration. If a transaction has already occurred, check its status and follow the applicable official instructions before paying again.
Who should I contact about a missing registered course?
Start with the support channel named in the current notice for your learner category. Your Regional Centre can help identify the appropriate registration or examination office. Keep your course code, session, evidence and previous reference ready.
