NIOS Class 12 Passing Marks Out of 80
For a theory-only subject following the 80-mark external examination pattern, 33% of 80 is 26.4. Because marks are recorded as whole numbers, a student should score at least 27 marks out of 80 to be safely above the 33% theory requirement.
Practical answer: Aim for 27/80 or more in the external theory examination.
This 27/80 calculation is relevant only where the external theory component is actually out of 80. Practical subjects can have a different distribution, so students should check the scheme for their exact subject code.
How NIOS Class 12 Marks Are Structured

Does TMA Count in NIOS Class 12 Passing Marks?
TMA carries internal-assessment weightage and can increase the final marks shown on the marksheet. However, NIOS requires the external theory examination—and practical examination where applicable—to meet the prescribed minimum. A high TMA score cannot turn a below-pass external theory score into a pass.
There is also no separate minimum passing mark for TMA. Official NIOS FAQs state that a learner must clear the external examination and the required aggregate. TMA marks are useful for improving the final score, but they are not a substitute for clearing theory.
Is TMA compulsory for every NIOS student?

NIOS Class 12 Physics and Maths Passing Marks

Physics: Physics includes theory and practical components. A learner must obtain at least 33% separately in both theory and practical and also meet the aggregate requirement. NIOS On-Demand Exam Passing Marks for Class 12
The On-Demand Examination offers a flexible exam window, but it does not mean the passing standard is lower. Senior Secondary students must still meet the applicable theory, practical and aggregate requirements.
